Author and lifelong creative P.J. Vigiletti invites readers into a sweeping historical fantasy with the release of the Heroes Rising series, comprised of Heroes Rising: The Power of the Crystal and its sequel, Heroes Rising: The Challenge. Blending American history, Greek mythology, and imaginative adventure, the series appeals to readers of all ages, with particular resonance for young adults ages 8 through 25.
Set primarily in a vivid and ever-changing New York City, Heroes Rising: The Power of the Crystal opens with a striking premise. After centuries of standing watch in New York Harbor as a symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty comes to life and abandons her pedestal. Disillusioned by a world that no longer values the gift of freedom, Lady Liberty’s awakening triggers unintended consequences. Her departure releases ancient evil from the underworld, controlled by Hades, and allows two dark forces, Neclion and Melinoe, to emerge and spread chaos across the world.
The event is witnessed by eight-year-old Nicholas Paolo and his older brother, Adam, who are thrust into a dangerous world of magic, mystery, and time travel. Entrusted with a powerful crystal, Nicholas discovers he can bring historical statues to life. Each awakening allows readers to experience a glimpse into the life and legacy of the hero represented, beginning with Abraham Lincoln. Through these encounters, the story subtly educates readers about history while encouraging curiosity beyond the page. Yet each act comes at a cost, as every statue brought to life releases another evil being from the underworld, raising the stakes with every choice Nicholas makes.
The adventure expands in Heroes Rising: The Challenge, carrying the story from New York City to the island of Crete and the mythical heights of Mount Olympus. As Adam and Nicholas battle growing darkness, they must protect the crystal, their loved ones, and themselves. Surrounded by gods and goddesses who serve as both allies and family, the brothers confront their greatest threat in Hades. Alongside epic confrontations, three intertwined love stories add emotional depth to the unfolding saga. The novel is presented in two parts, “The Quest” and “New Beginnings.”
Inspired by Vigiletti’s lifelong admiration for the Statue of Liberty and his passion for history, Heroes Rising began as a musical play before evolving into a two-book series. P.J. Vigiletti is a singer, dancer, artist, director, and playwright with decades of contributions to the arts.
