In A Song of Love, Latz presents a compelling story of a Sicilian girl whose life is shaped by an act of violence, hatred, and loss. After being raped and impregnated at thirteen years old, the village priest arranges for the baby girl to be adopted by a couple in a nearby town. The child is a musical prodigy and develops her talents in an affluent, yet emotionally cold household leading the child to seek warmth and authenticity in her biological parents. Her journey leads her to find her mother, a woman whose life has been altered by hate and anger since the day of her rape. As the story unfolds, the girl discovers her father—only to uncover a web of hidden truths and near-tragic consequences.
