September 2025 – Author Timothy Wulf brings to life a gripping tale of love, espionage, and sacrifice in his debut novel, Wings Over France, a WWII historical thriller set in Nazi-occupied Normandy during the tense months leading up to D-Day.
In Wings Over France, readers are transported to the heart of the French Resistance, where courage and cunning were the only weapons against an occupying force. Resistance fighter Marie Leclerc and American OSS operative Jack Davis join forces in daring acts of sabotage, carrying coded messages by pigeon, and evading the ruthless Gestapo officer known as the Bavarian Butcher. Against a backdrop of betrayal and danger, their growing bond becomes both a source of strength and a test of endurance as Allied forces prepare to storm the beaches of Normandy.
“This story is deeply personal to me,” Wulf explains. “My lifelong passion for World War II history, my travels across Europe, and my time as a teacher inspired me to write Wings Over France. I wanted to honor the extraordinary bravery of those who risked everything for freedom and bring their spirit to life through fictional characters.”
Wulf’s background uniquely positions him to tell this story. Born in Salem, Ohio, and a graduate of Mount Union College and George Washington University, he went on to have a distinguished career teaching economics and business at Parkland College in Illinois, where he also coached women’s basketball and was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame. Beyond teaching, Wulf built a career as an entrepreneur, launching ventures in retail, restaurants, financial planning, and real estate. Yet through it all, he remained an avid student of history. His extensive travels and frequent visits to WWII museums fueled the vision that became Wings Over France.
With its blend of meticulously researched history, page-turning suspense, and a tender romance tested by war, Wings Over France appeals to readers of historical fiction, WWII enthusiasts, and fans of character-driven love stories. It highlights not only the immense stakes of espionage and resistance but also the enduring power of love and hope during one of the darkest chapters in history.
